One War, One Person

"War is painful, and so are its stories. These pains will be taken only if they are necessary and compulsory for the country and for humanity. Those whose loved ones died in a war, or those who lost their arms, legs, or eyes, derive their strength from their belief in the justness and inevitability of the war in which they participated." They will receive the supreme honor that they believe they have earned in return for their great sacrifices. Our people, to whom Uğur Sümer spoke as a complete listener and observer, are even afraid to reveal their identities. Most of them are in pain of seeing that they have been misused. As for the retirement pensions they have earned, almost all of them say 'let it be their money, our arms. "They say, 'Let them give us back our legs and eyes!' The heart of those who say they are human cannot bear their testimony about the war."
