Bir Ortaçağ Müellifinin Gözüyle Kürtler Ve Yaşadıkları Bölgeler
al-Kâmil Fi't Tarih is one of the most important works not only of the medieval Islamic world but also of world history. Ibnu'l Esir, who is originally from Cizre, devoted an important place to the Kurds and the regions they live in in this work. al-Kâmil Fi't Tarih attracts attention as the source containing the most comprehensive and original information about the Kurds and the geographies they live in in Medieval Islamic history. In this study, the life of Ibnu'l Esir, his works, and the importance of al-Kâmil Fi't Tarih were emphasized, some medieval sources providing information about the Kurds were introduced, and the sources on how the word Kurdish and its geography changed etymologically in the historical process were examined.
In addition, the issue of what kind of a Kurdish image was created in medieval sources was touched upon, and the geographies where the Kurds lived, their socio-cultural characteristics, the tribes and tribal structures that stand out with their nomadic life and which are their social organizations, which are one of their distinguishing features, were examined. In this context, when the records until 1231, when the work ends, are examined, it is possible to find information about Kurdish tribes, dynasties, the geographies where the Kurds lived, their livelihoods, and their relations with each other and with neighboring states.
