The Arabian Nights, which have been told for hundreds of years in an area extending from China to North Africa and covering China, Indochina, India, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Egypt, were first edited by Antoine Galland and translated into French (1704- 17, 12 volumes) was introduced to the world. These tales, which have been translated into all major languages to date, deeply influenced many artists in all fields, from literature to music, from cinema to ballet, starting long before Galland, and have been processed, reinterpreted and imitated many times.
