Bacchae - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Among the three great tragic poets produced by Athens, he has a special place as the artist whose works have survived to the present day. This is attributed to the fact that he was a more admired poet among the public, even though he did not win the first prize as much as Aeschylus and Sophocles at the festivals. The heroes of Euripides' plays have human weaknesses and flaws, and the tragedies they experience arise from these flaws and their passions that they cannot give up. Bakkhalar, staged by his son after his death, is considered the poet's masterpiece. In this work, the conflict between God Dionysus and the king of Thebes, Pentheus, who refused to worship him, is discussed.
