Although İdil meant rural poetry, it seemed that this name could not easily be put into the language of the inner world of the society. Although it was called a “district”, it was immediately obvious that it was a village. Because the whole did not go beyond a few clusters of houses. It was leaning on the slope of a small ridge. The architectural structure of the houses did not deviate from the village image in the slightest; the houses standing in clusters, the roofs standing together seemed to give away immediately that they were built more for security reasons than for visual appeal. It was not difficult to guess that the residents of the houses standing in clusters were also relatives. As the number of people increased, new ones were added to these clustered houses. Due to these houses added over time, streets that were barely passable emerged naturally; the narrow streets separating the houses from each other also added an air of mystery to the district. It was not known whether this air of mystery was shaped by the narrowness of the streets or by narratives that disparaged the Assyrians. Stories of this kind are told everywhere without much questioning, and even mothers would tell such nightmare stories to scare their sleepless children and say "Filleh hatin" (Christians have come!) every time.
