Forbidden Love
In Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's most popular novel Aşk-ı Memnu, the events that take place in a mansion on the Bosphorus are told. Adnan Bey, a wealthy widower with two children, marries Bihter, the younger daughter of Firdevs Hanım, a favorite of the recreation areas. Before long, a love affair begins between Bihter and Adnan Bey's womanizer nephew Behlül. When their forbidden love (aşk-ı memnu) is revealed, Behlül and Bihter are at a loss as to what to do. Another striking situation in the novel is that Nihal becomes increasingly lonely due to Bihter's interventions.
Aşk-ı Memnu, one of the most successful novels written in the Western style, was played on television as a TV series, which increased the interest in the novel even more. We believe that this simplified edition will be met with interest by the readers.
