Ars Poetica - Şiir Sanatı (Ciltli)
Horatius (65-8 BC): He was born into a provincial family, but with the efforts of his father, he studied philosophy and literature first in Rome and then in Athens. He joined Brutus' army and lost everything he had upon his return from the Battle of Philippi. He met Maecenas through Vergilius and became a friend of Augustus. He was accepted in elite circles for his culture, intelligence and elegance, and made great contributions to Latin poetry and criticism. His literary simplicity, seriousness and pursuit of perfection turned him into a master, especially in the eyes of Renaissance humanists. His works are examined in four parts: Satirae [Satires], Carmina [Poems], Epodes [Short Lyrical Poems] and Epistulae [Letters]. "Letter to the Bishops", or better known as Ars Poetica, is a simple and subtle confirmation of the principles and views expressed by Aristotle in Poetics, and is a continuation of the discussions on poetry and drama that began with Plato and Aristotle.
