Antikçağ Felsefesi
Ancient philosophy, which forms the basis of the Western philosophical tradition, begins with Thales of Miletus, who is considered the first philosopher, and continues until the collapse of the Roman Empire. This process covers a period of approximately 1000 years, from the first philosophers who initiated philosophical thinking through nature research to Socrates, who directed the course of philosophy towards humans. Plato and Aristotle, who laid the foundation stones, Epicurus and Stoic schools, who tried to give a new direction to human life in the cultural climate of Alexander the Great, who spread Yonan culture to the Indos coasts in India, and Neo-Platonism and early Christian Christianity, which reinterpreted and enriched Plato's philosophy. It extends to thinkers.
This process, in which philosophy was born, developed and flourished, is the period in which the most fundamental questions to be discussed throughout the history of philosophy on certain issues such as human, god, nature, universe, morality, politics and society were determined and opened for discussion. So much so that it made Hegel, one of the most important philosophers in the history of philosophy, say, "We feel at home among the Greeks"; A period that was known as the home of every philosopher, thinker and man of letters, so much so that Ralph Waldo Emerson, who in his mind identified the entire antiquity with the concept of philosophy in the person of Plato, wrote: "Plato is philosophy, and philosophy is Plato."
This work, which deals with ancient philosophy as a whole with its culture and literature and explains it by examining it through Ancient Greek and Latin texts, is more than just a history of philosophy, it is a journey into the depths of philosophy, an invitation to an absorbing adventure of thought.
