Mothers' Rights
Selçuk Baran's seven story books were previously collected in a single volume by Yapı Kredi Publications, titled It Snowed on the Walnut Tree (2008). . All his stories have now been reviewed and published separately with covers with author portraits.
Selçuk Baran's second story book, Mothers' Rights (1977), was deemed worthy of the 1978 Sait Faik Story Gift. In the book consisting of nine stories, Selçuk Baran masterfully enters the stormy worlds of people who spend their lives in their own small worlds, the boundaries of which they draw, in a society where desperation, hopelessness and pain live side by side with happiness and hopes, where decay and growth are intertwined.
Full of loneliness and despair. Selçuk Baran, who is considered to be successful in creating a dreamy, poetic atmosphere in his stories, has contributed to many works, from Behçet Necatigil to Vedat Günyol, from Füsun Akatlı to Selim İleri, from Hulki Aktunç to İbrahim Yıldırım, from İnci Aral to Behçet Çelik. He is a writer praised by many writers, but waiting to be discovered more by today's readers.
