"Is women a subject or an object in politics? Does the entry of women into politics change politics or change women? The book you have in your hand has the quality of providing a comprehensive answer to these questions with very important findings in this period when it is discussed whether women are subjects in politics or not. Kurdish women have been in politics since the 1980s. This book examines in detail the processes of participation in politics, within the framework of traditional femininity roles, and then in a way that is made possible by political discourse, and finally by seeking solutions to one's own problems and transforming politics itself (...).

This study draws attention to the necessity of a discourse that will place what happened in a political discourse in order for pain to turn into a demand for rights, and shows that this transformation depends on the construction of personal and collective subjects. There can be various forms of politicization of pain. While one form focuses on constantly bringing up the wound caused by the pain, another way is to emphasize the historicity of this pain. While historical facts are constructed by the discourse that politicizes pain, they are rewritten through certain choices and determine where, how and by whom the right will be claimed, that is, whose pain it is. Focusing on the wound allows one to ignore the difference between the one who suffers and the one who inflicts the pain. Handan Çağlayan's work makes an important start in terms of giving clues about how these processes work." Nükhet Sirman
