Amerikan Gücünün Gerileyişi
Wallerstein develops the ideas of his previous books, After Liberalism and At the End of the World as We Know It, to their logical conclusion. Its basic thesis is this: The United States of America, the leading hegemonic power of the world system since 1945, is in decline. September 11 and the events that followed are the latest and most obvious evidence of this.
Wallerstein, who argues that the world system we live in is rapidly moving towards a fundamental change and is becoming more open to our choices and choices and human will than ever before, says the following about what we can do: "In this book, I adhere to my view that we all have a triple duty: To examine reality critically and soberly." the intellectual task of analyzing; the moral task of deciding what values we should prioritize today; and the vision of a different world that will emerge from the current chaotic structural crisis of our capitalist world system, one that will be demonstrably better than the present system. "The political task is to decide how we can contribute immediately to the possibility of its transition to the system."
What does it mean to be a dissenter, to be anti-system? We present the book, which is one of the clearest answers to this question today, with Tuncay Birkan's translation.
