Alevi Kurumsallaşması

Alevism is at the focal point of most of the social, political, religious and cultural events that marked the last century of Turkey. Sociological processes such as transformation, urbanization, modernization and politicization that Turkey experienced with the republic caused disintegration in all traditional structures; It has forced Alevism, which has preserved its traditional structure in rural areas for centuries, into a multi-dimensional transformation. The existence problem that Alevis experienced during the Ottoman period evolved into an identity problem with the Republican period.

Alevism's experience of rebuilding its identity in modernizing Turkey is also a process of institutionalization. Institutionalization, which started with associations in the 1960s, political party experiences, the construction of new religious discourse and religious spaces, then extended to intense national and international relationship networks and a modern identity with religious, political and cultural dimensions.

This study analyzes the institutionalization processes of Alevis from the first years of the Republic to the present.
