What do you call an actor?
He is an actor who was born in Diyarbakır and moved first to Istanbul, then to London, from religious education to acting school, to the stages and sets. Kevork Malikyan put his profession at the center of everything and lived that way. What Actor Said is the story of facing whatever life brings with generosity and courage, trying to find your own way, and making your life a part of the stage and the play.
This book tells, in Malikyan's unique style, the time between going from the dusty streets of Gâvur District to the stage of the school where he was taken to become a priest and the most important stages and sets of the world. It is also a special invitation to the reader from someone who went to London without knowing a word of English, studied at Rose Bruford College, and witnessed the opening and closing of the curtain at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In an interview guided by photographs and diaries, Tugba Esen tells the story of an actor who never hesitated to devote himself to the life and the game, not to his career plans, who always carried his Armenian identity in his pocket and was always "reminded" of who he was.
