Ağaçtaki Gözcü
In this book, the third of Edgar award-winning author Rebecca Pawel's historical detective series, Gardia Lieutenant Carlos Tejada and his pregnant wife Elena go to their new duty station, Potes. Since this is considered the land of guerrillas, they are not very welcome. Two days after the arrival of the Tejadas, news comes that a large amount of dynamite has been stolen. If the dynamite falls into the hands of the guerrillas, then all bridges are in danger. While Tejada was on the trail, this time, events got out of control when a body was found by the river. Unfortunately, Elena is the one who finds the body. Elena has to cope with these feelings of shock and loneliness, as well as the difficulties of pregnancy.
A series of adventures such as smuggling, murder, kidnapping and theft await them. Pawel takes us on a new adventure in this novel, in which he blends the marriage of Tejada and Elena and the political panorama of post-war Spain, with one of the guerrilla leaders, local people and priest characters in the background.
