Translation by Samih Tiryakioğlu, with forewords by the translator and Barış Özkul and afterword by Paul Bourget, Chronology of the author and period, with visuals of the book.

Adolphe is the masterpiece of Benjamin Constant, who broke new ground in French literature and political philosophy, and reveals the importance of emotional affinities, passions and desires in the formation of the modern individual. Bored with the people and relationships surrounding him, Adolphe thinks he has found the love he was looking for in Ellénore. Ellénore, who is initially indifferent to Adolphe's attention, begins to become more attached to him as she gets to know the young man and begins to share her feelings publicly. When Adolphe "gets" Ellénore, he feels that he is getting bored with her. Despite this, his inability to leave Ellénore adds a tragic dimension to their relationship, which has become an impasse. Adolphe, which contains many autobiographical elements from Benjamin Constant's private life, is one of the first fictional works that deals in depth with a widespread individual psychology that persistently avoids establishing permanent emotional closeness.

“Adolphe, Benjamin Constant's only novel, was hailed as a masterpiece at the time it was written, and writers such as Goethe, Stendhal, Pushkin and Hugo expressed their admiration for the novel.”
