Uğur Özkan was born on February 28, 1989 in Cizre. His real name is Hogir. The Özkan family had to migrate to Istanbul in 1993 due to state attacks. Hogir fit great stories into his short 26-year life, stretching from Cizre to Suruç. He always stood on the side of the oppressed and formed a revolutionary and patriotic personality. He organized at the university, worked with SYKP in his last years, and was expelled from the university due to his active political struggle. But he didn't give up, he worked as a construction worker and never complained. He came to Istanbul from Mersin to participate in the uprising during Gezi and sang folk songs of freedom and brotherhood. Hogir, who was working for HDP in Bahçelievler during the June 7 general elections, was attacked by a fascist one day before the election. He was not afraid, he did not retreat. Hogir, who was hospitalized, went to vote on the election day and to raise his "great dream of humanity". Hogir Soma streets against worker massacres, Taksim May 1, Madımak commemoration; He always took his place in Armenian, Assyrian and Greek genocide protests. Hogir was on the streets against the massacres of women and the hatred directed towards LGBTI people. He did not accept the construction of HEPPs. He took care of nature. He loved animals, the most beautiful parts of nature. His heart always stood for the oppressed and Kurdistan. He turned to the Rojava revolution. He was among the 'Dream Passengers' who gathered in the garden of Suruç/Amara Cultural Center for the construction of Kobanê. In that garden, he became a companion of our people, like 32 companions, on the journey of solidarity and freedom.
