Before Adam was first serialized in Everybody's Magazine in 1906-07. Jack London tries to develop a perspective on human evolution. It tells everything through the eyes of a child who sees his dream in the first stages of evolution. The child's alter-ego, the Cave Man, the Fire People, the more animalistic Tree People, and the Red-Eye live in a simpler world. A fervent atavism, "atavism" that can be read as early nationalism, keeps the Cave People living in terror. According to Jack London, one must be strong; But not cruelly, gracefully. It is not enough for London to maintain its existence; He wants to live, and to live by feeling it in his bones. For this reason, he does not hesitate to risk everything and live a life on the edge of the knife. It is not for nothing that Vladimir Mayakovsky named the script he wrote based on Martin Eden, Not Born for Money.
