Understanding Alevism in 99 Questions Book Description
Back Cover Text (From the Promotional Bulletin)
Understanding Alevism; It is possible by unraveling its social institutions, rituals and philosophy. During the process of burning and destroying Alevi dervish lodges, dervish lodges and zawiyas in 1826, Alevism was tried to be taken over by the Ottoman government. Starting from this period, Alevism resisted for a long time, but was forced to comply with Islam.
In recent studies, Alevism has been tried to be included in religious traditions and active identities such as Turkishness, Kurdishness, Shamanism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As Alevism began to show itself, it became clear that this was not valid: Alevism is itself. In this study, the issues that those who want to know Alevi belief and philosophy should know and the most curious aspects were taken into consideration and questions and answers were created. Their answers have been reduced to as short and understandable a level as possible.
Philosophy and belief issues, which are the accumulation of Alevi thought, create difficulty in conceptual and semantic understanding at first glance. An effort has been made to create ease of reading and understanding by avoiding aspects that make it difficult to understand as much as possible.
There are two important purposes of preparing questions and answers to understand Alevism. Our aim is to facilitate learning, especially for younger generations, and to guide beginners.
