Edward II
Christopher Marlowe, (1564-1593): The artist, whose life and death are shrouded in mystery, is among the most important playwrights of the Elizabethan period. He was born as the son of a shoemaker in Canterbury, distinguished himself with his intelligence and talent, and received the best education of his time. At Cambridge University, where he went to study religion, he was also interested in history and philosophy, learned French, and graduated with undergraduate and graduate degrees. In his short 29-year life, he pioneered a new era in English theater with the plays he wrote using free meter and all the possibilities of the language, and inspired the playwrights after him, especially his contemporary Shakespeare. Throughout his life, he was prosecuted for various reasons such as counterfeiting and atheism, and was killed by a tavern friend. Author, II. Edward also turned to the political history of England, dealt with a weak king in the midst of the conflict between the palace and the nobles, and exhibited the destruction caused by weakness and dissipation.
