The book, which reached Turkish readers 20 years after it was published in France, presents a list of more than 2900 settlements (provinces, sanjaks, districts and villages) that had an Armenian population before 1915. In the book, which reveals for the first time the population statistics prepared by Armenian religious officials in the rural areas in the early 20th century, the settlements in question are; It includes their historical background, their schools, churches, and monasteries, their old and new names, accompanied by maps and about 1000 images.
In the French original, Armenian, Greek, Kurdish, etc. The fact that the current names of settlements such as villages and sub-districts, which were called by their old names but were translated into Turkish during the transition to the nation-state, were added in the Turkish edition makes the work even more functional.
Armenians in the Ottoman Empire before 1915 presents a detailed photograph of an ancient people who have now been completely erased from the geography they lived in due to the massacres they suffered at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
