It is a fact that in Turkey there are few copyrighted works that can be used as a source in the field of political science. The lack of a comprehensive study that can be recommended to our university students on this subject, the use of mostly translated resources, the insufficiency of resources written in Turkish, etc. These are obstacles to a sound political science education at the academic level. Undoubtedly, this is one of the biggest problems faced by academics teaching at our universities.
This book, which aims to eliminate this deficiency in the field of political theory in our country, was prepared by faculty members who know and have experienced the difficulties in question, taking this concern into consideration. An important feature of the work that emerged from the "Contemporary Political Theories" course conducted at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Istanbul University is that its preparation spanned a long period of time and the subjects matured practically during the course of teaching.

The book basically deals with the ideologies that emerged in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the work, liberalism, conservatism, nationalism, Marxism, anarchism, social democracy, feminism, fascism and corporatism are discussed by placing them in their historical context and establishing connections with today; At the beginning of the book, the concept of ideology is explained in its historical context and the distinctions between it and political culture are included. In addition, independent texts where political ideologies are discussed one by one also carry a critical perspective along with general evaluations.

Another point that should be emphasized is that the texts in the book were not written with the concern of "remaining at the undergraduate level", but rather have features that will challenge the capacity of readers of all levels, rather than being texts that undergraduate students can easily memorize. For this reason, the book in your hand is a reference source for everyone who is interested in the subject.
