The process of translating Kapital into Turkish is also the story of the ups and downs of the socialist-communist movement in Ottoman-Turkish political history. The translation adventure, which started with the first socialists in the Ottoman Empire, found a place for itself with the first generation of the TKP and the conditions of the repressive regime on the left of the single-party period. While the long period of persecution and persecution of communists was easing somewhat towards the 1960s and the socialist movement was becoming more massive, the translation of Capital was still ongoing. Finally, when the translations are completed and started to be published, the divisions within the left will determine the fate of the text and the quality of the translation will be a matter of debate. Mehmet Ö. In Das Kapital on its 150th anniversary, Alkan tells the adventure of both translations and the socialist movement in the history of Türkiye.

“The story of Marx's book Das Kapital in Turkey is actually one of the most interesting footnotes in the history of socialism in Turkey. "There is a stubborn struggle for a more beautiful, livable and shareable world, full of goodness, that does not deviate from its path despite the belittlements, prohibitions, obstacles, accusations, imprisonments, torture and deaths."

-Mehmet Ö. Alkan-
